St George South lies on the western coast of Corfu, right on the Ionian Sea. The transfer time from Corfu’s only airport is approximately 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes.
Holidays to St George South quite literally offer sun, sea and sand. There are two extremely long golden sandy beaches, one of which is aptly named Golden Beach! If you’re looking for a family holiday, a couples’ holiday or a group holiday, you’ll be in for a treat.
The gently sloping beaches here make a great spot for children to paddle in the fabulous blue sea, while parents can watch on from the comfort of their sun beds. For the energetic, water sports are dotted along the beach providing fun day time activities. However if you fancy a simple relax, sink into a chair in a small café or taverna along the main strip of the beach.
If you’re looking for a culture-filled holiday, you’re likely to be disappointed. St George South is a slightly more tourist resort with an ample supply of amenities from shops selling sun creams and postcards to restaurants serving Greek food and international dishes.
Of an evening, let your hair down in a karaoke bar or if you’re up for a night filled with dancing, there’s a couple of night clubs on the main road. However if you really want to experience pumping nightlife, Kavos on the south coast boasts a huge amount of clubs and bars open all night long.
For a perfect day trip away from the coast, head inland to a man-made Venetian lagoon, Lake Korrison, either by hire car or by bike. The lake was created for salt pans, but now serves as a fantastic habitat for local wildlife.
