Chilled-out cocktail bars and buzzing waterside cafes equipped with laid-back music and low-lights make for sublime evenings out. A couple of night clubs are present here too, but are nothing compared to the hustle and bustle of nearby Malia.
Being in this classy resort enables you to take a short boat trip to the island of Spinalonga. This ancient island was used by the Venetians as a fort in the 17th Century to protect Crete from the Turks, but was then transformed into a leper colony until the 1950s.
