The charming, picture-postcard village of Fiskardo sits on the north coast of Kefalonia on a fantastic harbour. With an approximate transfer time of 1 hour 30 minutes from the airport, this fishing town is a popular holiday resort.
This colourful town offers the holidaymaker the chance to stay in a very typical Greek setting. With a tree lined promenade, classy yachts drifting in and out of the harbour and atmospheric tavernas, Fiskardo boasts to be a fantastic holiday destination.
During the days, head around the bay to the small shingle beach where you can spend lazy hours unwinding. The sea here like in all of Kefalonia is perfectly clear, so snorkelling is a great activity for adults and children alike.
Kefalonia’s sister island Ithaca lies just off the coast of Fiskardo, so fabulous views across the sea can be admired and relaxing boat trips can be taken there. You’ll also want to take a boat trip to a secluded cove, only accessible by sea.
Eating out in Fiskardo is always a fantastic experience. Grab a delicious souvlaki, unwind in a casual taverna with some crudités and tzatziki, or sit down to a candlelit dinner with a tantalisingly fresh seafood dish. Wherever you decide to eat, you’ll be sure to be spoilt with authentic homemade Greek food.
As Kefalonia is such a small island, all the resorts are within easy reach by hire car. Head down to the gorgeous Assos and marvel at the views or indulge in the splendour of the stunning Melissani Cave. You can even travel the hour and a half journey down to the south coast to Skala, where a fabulous stretch of golden beach awaits.
Nightlife anywhere in Kefalonia isn’t as wild and boisterous as some resorts in Corfu, Crete and Zante; however nightlife in Fiskardo does include a few bars. You can join in the traditional Greek dancing or just sit by the waterside and sip a cocktail or two, but it’s not filled with the young and lively dancing in neon lit clubs and pumping with music. All in all, you’re sure to have a relaxing time on an amazing island holiday.
