Set on the Lixouri Peninsula, the town of Lixouri is a 90 minute transfer journey from the airport. Overlooking a channel of beautiful blue sea, it faces the main land of Kefalonia and its capital, Argostoli.
Although Kefalonia’s second largest town, Lixouri still remains a relaxing resort that revolves around a working harbour. Fishing boats and yachts drift in and out of the bay, providing the perfect setting for a quiet drink in a waterside taverna.
For a fantastic beach holiday, head to nearby Lepeda Beach. With its gorgeous red sands and sparkling shallow waters safe for children to play in, it’s a great spot for families to enjoy. Xi Beach and Petani Beach are also glorious to spend hours sunbathing and enjoying the laid-back Greek atmosphere.
If you’re an avid walker, or just enjoy spending time in the countryside, Lixouri is definitely the resort for you. Surrounded by luscious untouched countryside and fragrant citrus and olive groves, Lixouri is abundant in peaceful walking trails, both inland and along the coast.
Eating in Lixouri is always a relaxing experience. Whether you’re unwinding in a cosy café on the main square, or enjoying a lively dinner in a sea-front restaurant, you’re sure to have a delicious meal. Cuisine here is mainly authentically Greek, but you can find places that serve international dishes if you prefer a taste from home.
While there is a small amount of nightlife in Lixouri including a few bars and a couple of discos just outside of the town, it’s not a thriving, vibrant resort bursting with clubs and neon lights. You can indulge in a cold glass of wine or an exotic cocktail an enjoy nights out as a couple or a family.
