Holidays to Kos Town

Kos Town, Kos. Greece.

The capital of Kos, Kos Town, is a bustling cosmopolitan town on the northern tip of the island, a transfer time of approximately 45 minutes from the airport.

With a shingle beach, vibrant harbour and lovely waterfront all sweeping around a gorgeous blue bay, Kos Town really is a great place for that perfect summer holiday. Think strolling along the promenade enjoying the atmosphere and stopping at waterfront tavernas and delicious seafood restaurants to while away the afternoons.

The harbour is the hive of activity. Many boat trips depart from here, including daily trips to Bodrum in Turkey! Why not take a trip out to a Bodrum market, practice your bartering skills and pick up some local delicacies.

For beach lovers, there’s a sand and shingle beach next to the harbour where you can spend hours relaxing on a sun bed, paddling in the sea or unwinding with a tasty snack in a beach side taverna. However if you fancy a trip out, take a local bus to nearby Psalidi or Tingaki, where longer stretches of golden sandy beaches can be found.

As you would expect in a busy town much loved by Brits, restaurants here serve everything from typical home made Greek food such as moussaka and souvlaki, to more international dishes such as Italian and British. So whether you want a fun meal out with the kids, or a classy candlelit dinner as a couple, there’s something here for you.

During the busy summer months, Kos Town thrives with the young and lively, all out here to enjoy the hot Mediterranean sunshine and vibrant night life. Pubs, bars and clubs are open all night, so expect to have fun-filled evenings out whether it’s for a cool drink after dinner or to dance the night away.

Aside from the modern amenities there are many glimpses of the ancient culture here. The most obvious historical site is the Castle of the Knights, which stands graciously overlooking the sea. There is also a fantastic amphitheatre for any history enthusiasts to marvel at. If you’re not into sight-seeing, take a wander through the quaint cobbled streets surrounding beautiful squares where many small shops await.

When looking for accommodation in Kos there couldn’t be a bigger range than there is in Kos Town. With everything from 5* all inclusive to self-catered hotels, 4* half board hotels to family run apartments on the beach, there’s somewhere for everyone to stay and enjoy a fabulous holiday in the sun.
